The athletic department has posted preliminary roster & schedule info for the GW players participating in the Kenner League. Don't know if this is a first or not, but I don't know if I've ever gotten Kenner info from the GW Sports site before any other sources. Way to go G-Dub!

Everyone is scheduled to play except David Pellom.  All of the newcomers are scheduled to play this Saturday at 1:00 and this Sunday at 12:00.

I agree Herve, seems like common sense and someone would have had this idea.  Anyone know the appx cost per ticket?  I'll be bringing my teenagers...hope this thread doesn't get hijacked.

The Kenner games are free to attend.  Parking can be scarce outside McDonough Gymnasium, but there's a parking garage just down the hill and street parking on Reservoir Rd, which is about a 5 minute walk.

Mike, the games are free.

 Plenty of space in the barking garage.  During the week, I seem to recall it was $4.00 to park.  I believe free on weekends, when most games are played.

 Make that the parking garage, unless you bring your dog, then its the barking garage.

The thing about the Kenner League scouting reports, especially for freshman and younger players...if you do not look good in Kenner, you probably are not going to look all that good during the season.  However, if you look very good in Kenner, it does not necessarily mean that you be good during the season.  Now, as for Pellom...do I have to worry that his not playing in the Kenner means he is not fully recovered from the injuries that plagued him last season?

Yes we should all be wary of falling in the Miles Beatty trap again.

 Based upon past years, I would think these players would thrive at Kenner:

• Kethan: has that slashing, scoring mentality which does great at Kenner, as long as they get him the ball
• McDonald: should be handling the ball a lot
• Larsen: simply staying at home and cleaning up should get him points

Players who might not fair so well:

• Paris: no way his game translates to the no-defense-no-rebounding-no-passing Kenner game
• Patricio: not enough of a scorer to leap-out at Kenner

In short, for those who have not been around Kenner, do NOT get too excited or disappointed with the players reports because it's ALL about '3s and slashing, with ZERO defense, boxing-out or anything close to fundamentals--it's really just for fun and nothing more. For every five Ricky Lucas' who light it up at Kenner then fade-away by late October, there just might be one Carl Elliott who does almost nothing at Kenner then goes on to a great career.

There's always lots of defense in Kenner games, herve. Maybe you just can't fathom Tom Penders' defense when Tom's not around.

Mason players

Looks like Georgetown big man Moses Ayegba and GMU's Vaughn Gray are playing on Hoop Magic with all our newcomers.  Neither played very much for thier teams last year (Gray did get 11 mpg, though didn't do much with those minutes; Ayegba barely played).  Wonder how they will deal with minutes with those guys and all our guys on the same team.

Where is Copes?

herve, not to split hairs, but I think that Garino--on two good wheels--will be our ace college level scorer out of the group. He just is often a pass first kind of guy, but, from what I have seen in 4 game segments, he will not hold the ball if he thinks that he can score on a guy.

Moses Ayegba played for Hoop Magic last summer and suffered a serious knee injury in a Kenner League game that caused him to miss much of the season, he may have redshirted last year. We'll see whether Coach Symmonds gives more time to M.Ayegba or Kevin Larsen. The fact that M.Ayegba is back on Hoop Magic may indicate that some of the other non-GW guys who played last year will be back playing for them. I recall a poster had a problem with how Symmonds played his son and other players over the GW guys.

Even Comcast SportsNet's website has posted information about guys who will play in the Kenner League(just the GW, George Mason and Georgetown players like BM provided). Herve was right, things have changed!! In the past, the only way to get ANY official information on rosters was on Georgetown's website. Based on what happened last year, I'd expect Team Tavern will be made up of mostly American U players.

 Weather forcast for DC on Saturday calls for a high of 106 degrees.  That is not heat index or anything like that, just plain 106 degrees Farenheight.  McDonough is not air conditioned.  We will see this weekend who the true die hards (read that idiots) are.

Woah.  If that gym is not air conditioned, I wouldn't be shocked if they cancelled the games.  That is really hot, borderline dangerous, to play basketball in.

It absolutely is air conditioned.  A year or two ago, an Asian youth group wandered into the gym, neatly filed into their seats which took up about 10 rows or so, stayed for around 20 minutes, and then neatly filed out of the gym.  I was convinced that they were there solely for the air conditioning.

It makes no difference if McDonough usually is air-conditioned or not. When LSF is there, they adjust the ambient temperature just to annoy him, as he is recognized as The Most Interesting Man In the World. But, He makes his own heat. His own air conditioning, too. It's a wonder, just to sit next to him.

I may be wrong about the air conditioning, but I remember the place being pretty toasty.
