Another shooter and another Canadian.  Played in the U19 FIBA Championship for Canada scoring 3 a game.

July, 2009: One of the true sleepers in the tournament (Triple S Jam Fest) was this young man from Massachusetts. He doesn't pass the look test of an elite level player. His body appears slower than his production on the court. In watching very closely, he surprised me time and time again with his defensive ability to challenge the shot of much quicker and smaller players. Each time his opponent drove into the lane, he was able to move his feet to stay in front of a driving jitter bug and challenge the final shot. His basketball IQ and court vision enabled him to time and time again locate the right teammate for the net pass. However, what allowed him to stand out was his ability to effortlessly knock down three after three from very deep range. The thing that separates him from many other shooters, and what makes him intriguing to the net level, is his big frame and strength that allows him to play against the stronger elite level players in this tournament effectively. He can score, he doesn't turn it over, he can finish on the break, he won't get knocked off the ball because of his size, and no one shot better throughout the tournament.

BM, that just isn't so.  Tony Taylor received BCS school interest (at least two Big East schools were seriously interested) but we got to him first and often.  UNC offered a scholarship to Damian Hollis.  One of the huge selling points we have over BCS schools is the guarantee of playing time.  There is little if any chance that a player who is offered from a BCS school will be buried on the bench at GW.  Not necessarily the case at the BCS school. 

not all BCS hoop schools set the golden standard, thus depending on the year, hearing a kid get an offer from say:  Northwestern, Penn State, MIssissippi, Mississippi State, Alabama, Miami, Florida State, Seton Hall, Baylor, Teas Tech, Teas A&M, Nebraska, USF, does not give me all that much comfort that the player is a stud.  It helps me, but it does not mean to me that we have the second wave of Hall, Pops and Co.
