Ladies lose, 54-53, to 5-0-in-conference Dukes. GW won the takeaway battle by a wide margin, but could not shoot. GW did a solid rebounding job against a taller team, but could not shoot. GW outhustled Duquesne, but could not shoot. Their horrific shooting came from both the floor and the free throw line ... and we entered the game as the top FT team in the league. We had several shots blocked, but also a number of air balls. Frustrating game to watch.

Caught the end, fantastic comeback. Blocked a shot with 4 seconds left, and got called for an awful, late whistle. That game was heading to OT and GW was going to win.
Thx for the head up SOL!

UConn has a high scoring guard leaving the woman's team. Get the lasso ready

Credit Duquesne's Foul Try defence. Self-inflicted loss.

Rizzotti's philosophy is defense first, and lately the team has really stepped it up defensively, playing against taller teams (this year, almost everyone has been taller). Duquense is a really solid team, and the our defense did a great job against them.
Our team can be offensively challenged at times. We still have trouble finishing in traffic, especially our young players who tend to hurry their shots. I've seen improvement in that we haven't taken as many bad shots as we did earlier in the year. Brianna has become more aggressive, repeatedly getting to the basket with her step-through move, and is getting more patient and not hurrying her shots. Kelsi is taking better shots than at the beginning of the year. Luma has struggled in the post against taller players, but she's still going to be a good one. Today, missing free throws made a huge difference.
Also, I'm glad to see Kelli back, but you can see she's not game-ready. Hopefully, she can regain her form soon.
Rizzotti is preparing the team to be competitive in the A10 tournament. There is a lot of parity among the better teams in the A10, so this is doable if the team continues to improve and are playing well in March. We'll see.

Yes, yes, it is way to early to pull the plug. But I am, still yet to be sold on Coach Rizz' body of work. Much more worried about the direction of the women's program than the men's...

Real gutsy defensive play. It was ironic that free throw shooting did GW in (particularly the free throw misses!). I think that just about everyone who played shot at least one air ball.
