define "soon" for us (at least for me).

thanks Bo. Looking forward to it.

Very glad to hear this, Bo.  Can I assume that this player gets the Bo seal of approval?  We can sure use a little "tall".

1

the dude9/10/2017 2:21:31 PM

Bo, remind us of the last time you did NOT stamp a player with the "Bo seal of approval?"

Bo said good recruiting news will be coming in the next few days. Let's not panic if it takes more than a 'few' days because it will happen. No need to ask Bo who he got the info from because he wisely will not disclose that.

I can be patient.

I still am waiting for Dick Nixon's Secret Plan to End the War.

What happened to Dick?

I'm hoping for a Grad Transfer.

anderson9/10/2017 7:54:07 PM

Bo has been spot on in past about recruiting commitments. I am preparing for good news in the next few days.

I am betting on a 2018 commitment. Perhaps it is Mezzie. We will see.

Jack Whitman or Keith Frazier (former SMU/North Texas player, top recruit)?

1

gwmaven9/10/2017 11:27:19 PM

Going with Jack Whitman. Bo said this season.

Thanks much for the heads-up, Bo.

We can always use good news. The more, the better.

Frazier likely going to Baylor

Dude, was that shot at Bo absolutely necessary?  We've got a little bit of positivity going, but you used it to hit another poster.  This really is the same thing that you (and others, including me) complain about when it happens (wrongly) to you.  Raise High above all that noise!  Can we at least see who it is first?  Remember, this is Mojo's choice, and you have been admirably supportive of the new coach.  What if it's Mezzie or Whitman?  You were pretty happy when we signed Shandon Brown.

Just tryin' to keep the peace.

Yes, it was.  Because if you're going to ask for "stamps of approval of players" I think, as it relates to GW basketball, its worth noting that the so called Bo stamp of approval has been given to every single GW signee (at least since Ive been here) is well worth noting.

You see the difference? Not a personal attack, a discussion about GW basketball with a comment about GW basketball.  You may notice that I personally disregard the actual personal attacks.

The actual personal attacks, most have them, have come for daring to question the so called stamp of approval, from the "stamper"  Surely you recall that.  I know you are trying to help, I don't think its helpful to confuse matters though

Going to guess it's Mezie since he recently took an official to GW in addition to UMass, Bucknell, and a couple of other schools. Whitman seems to have fallen off the grid and the coaching staff has pretty much moved on to the next class (and 2019 already).

cant wait to get him if it is him9/11/2017 9:04:52 AM

Seems like a real standout.

Player Background

Chimezie Offurum is a Shooting Guard from Rockville, MD. He is ranked No. 358 in the country by 247Sports.

Offurum is the No. 13 recruit in Rockville, MD (20852) State and is the No. 86 Shooting Guard in the nation.

Offurum has a 247Sports rating of 70, making him a 2-star prospect.

Are we doing the rankings thing AGAIN. GARINO was a 2 star player and Marfo was 3...

Let the staff do their job.

GW Student and GW Maven,  Keith Frazier!! Now there's a name from the past. Does he still have college eligibility left? I recall him being a highly rated(top 15??) player in his class and was projected to dominate in college and then go off to the NBA. K.Frazier may have been Larry Brown's first big-time recruit after he took the SMU job.

If it's Jack Whitman, that would be a huge addition to this year's team. I hope he kept his college options open after Kansas didn't work and hasn't fallen off the grid as DMVPiranha pointed out.

Done deal ... it's Mezzie.

anderson9/11/2017 10:14:14 AM

Once again Bo's info comes through! I want to know how you know this stuff.

I think Mezzie is going to be a good get for GW. As a VA guy I get to see IAC games every now and then at SSSA and Episcopal. He can play!

ziik9/11/2017 11:16:54 AM

Only 7 guards to go until GW monopolizes the A-10 Guard Regiment.

Thanks for the heads up, Bo.

I look forward to more information on the new guy.

bo knows9/11/2017 12:08:34 PM

To answer your question Dude above, I don't stamp every player. Impossible to stamp every player. Here are some I have stamped recently:

Smith, Roland, Marfo, Toro, Bolden, Nolan, Offurum, McDonald, Larsen

Here are some I did not stamp either because I hadn't seeen them play enough to stamp or did not have a high opinion:

Goss, Bryant, Griffin, Mazzulla, Jack, Langarica, Garino, Watanabe

As you can see there are hits and misses in both categories. That's the nature of the beast. Nobody bats 100% in this not even Coach K.

per Rothstein, Keith Frazier committed to UTEP.

bigfan9/11/2017 9:11:17 PM

Good heads-up, Bo.

Keep it coming.

the other mg9/11/2017 11:31:03 PM

A little confused about his position.  In another thread there was a concern that he was put in a situation where he was out of position (4/5 instead of 3/4).  Now he's a shooting guard.  Those of you who have seen him - where will he play for a team that seems to have a lot of young guards? 3?

the dude9/12/2017 12:48:48 AM

MG, I think it was explained he's a 3 but was asked to play as a 4.  Don't believe he's a 2.  Obviously, in some ways, these can be somewhat meaningless distinctions.  Garino's offensive game is what I'd suggest I saw on film.  Likes to take it to the rim in open floor.  Has nice mechanics on the jumper, doesn't seem to have the traditional "2 Guard" game, on film at least.

You can consider the high praise of the Pato offensive game comparison, my Seal of Approval!

"soon" was quick! Thanks for the information and congrats to Chimezzie Offurum (and Georgetown Prep).
