We don't a chance a chance in hell at this guy, but its pretty awesome we made his list. Good to see our Montrose inroads getting us somewhere. I think he might have gone to some GW games and stuff with Larsen. Anyone know if that's true?

He attended Colonial Madness, which makes it more surprising that he's still considering us.

He is young, but reminds me of Keith Morris.

Saw him play in the National High School Tournament. GW is definitely NOT out of his league.

Maybe I wrote that wrong, I meant to say he is not "too good" for GW.

Gee, we've been successfully recruiting players who are too good for GW this year. It's our new problem!

Kevin Larsen made a point about early and constant love from GW. Never gonna raise school's basketball profile unless we go after the better players and maybe steal a few away from the so-called big-time schools. Identify the kids that fit your needs and criteria and go after them. Let the kids decide if Lonergan and GW is the right place for them. Also probably can't hurt in getting slightly lower rated players if we're seen as seriously going after even better ones. Successful or not, this coaching staff is consistently getting the GW brand and presence out there among potential recruits.

And getting them to the Smith Center games repeatedly, to give them an early GW tie that non-local schools can't match..

Cool. If this kid is as good as the schools that are recruiting him, it sounds like it would be a steal. I'm not sure what Lonergan is saying, but it would be great if we can get better players to come to GW and build up a high profile program.

Seeing that we have only seen him play as an underclassman, it is clear that he has significant upside. As Lonergan would say, is a boxscore stuffer. Smooth and some scoring potential (now) on his own. An early commit would be huge news. Lots of love for the guy coming in September of 2014.

Your can't be serious suggestions right now are 2013... Hart and Jenkins (good fits)

and Zabo in 2014, ... for now.

The kid lives in the DC area. Reading anything into that tweet goes beyond even grasping at straws.

Nice find, BM. You are a truly gifted cyber-stalker!

In all seriousness, this is a good reminder that as happy we are about the current recruiting class, the staff is still somewhat hamstrung by the fact that they've still been on the job just around a year. The key to beating out mid to upper BCS programs is to establish relationships from the time these kids are sophmores, maybe even freshmen. That won't really be possible until the class of 2014 (even next year's class were already rising juniors when our staff started recruiting).

Maybe at the end it doesn't matter, but once in a while there is going to be a kid who does remember who believed in him first, and who sees why GW is a great place to go to college and play basketball.

Apparently "stood out" at the Jordan Brand tournament (a showcase for 16 and Under international players (despite the off-shooting numbers, he was one of just 4 players they wrote up as stand outs).

Kevin Zabo (Canada, PG, 6’2”, Montrose Christian)

4-17 FG, 3 reb, 2 assist, 4 stl, 3 TO, 12 TP

Displayed excellent on-ball defense throughout the game-pressured his man from baseline to baseline and was in the opponent’s shirt. At his best in transition- quick with the ball in the open court. Displayed a nice step-back jumper in the games opening minutes. Solid ball handler with either hand- can break man down off dribble to get to the rim and create his own shot. Needs to improve his court vision- more of a scorer and combo guard then true PG at least that is what he displayed in this game. Gets out of control and is somewhat TO prone. Definitely a guard to keep your eye on especially since he plays HS ball in the states.
