Herve, please take control of this forum back.  It has become entirely useless as a news source because there are five posts of personal insults for every one with a real opinion or news value.  I'm not sure how you can do it (registration?), but it has become untenable.

DCAbloob9/19/2016 2:45:45 PM

Agreed, I'm starting to see posts elsewhere bashing what GW Hoops has become over the past few days. This board needs to be brought under control again while there's still time to do so.

herve9/19/2016 3:46:22 PM

My interest in GW basketball at the moment is less than minor. I may make changes for the better or I may call it a wrap after way too long. Either way, I'm certain little will help, nor will it matter.

ziik9/19/2016 3:50:19 PM

What do we all really want? Herve to shut this down? GW to drop basketball and pick up volleyball?

Dootie Bubble9/19/2016 4:02:43 PM

I hold the position that this is the tamest D1 sports message board in the business.  Why you all got to call Herve out of his slumber to chase a way a few inconsequential knuckleheads?

jr229/19/2016 4:08:55 PM

i dont think that anyone is arguing that its not "tame" enough.  Its that its completely unreadable and schizophrenic.  The "tameness" argument is the straw man that always seems to get thrown out there, followed by another 100 incoherent posts.

Dootie Bubble9/19/2016 4:13:41 PM

Fair enough.  But goofy people writing weird shit is what message boards are.  You want unreadable go look at an FSU fan page.  Half those clowns are illiterate yet they still know how to type in ALL CAPS.

Tuna Can9/19/2016 4:26:06 PM

Herve Can't Save you....

Thomas9/19/2016 4:51:37 PM

You guys have to keep in mind that this is a HIGHLY unusual and somewhat emotional situation that is going on with the Washington Post breaking the story of ML being abusive and now ML being fired, so no one should be surprised at the amount of personal/emotionally charged comments that people are making. Darnell Rogers situation threw things out of whack even more!!

If these 2 incidents never happened, we'd be talking about A-10/ GW previews(I'll post Athlon's preview of GW and the A-10 soon), when GW will hold open practice for season-ticket holders, midnight madness and recruiting. Everything would be pretty tame. Eventually a new coach will be named, the season will start and everything will go back to "normal"!! I don't think Herve needs to make drastic changes at this point

2cents9/19/2016 5:07:12 PM

I second Thomas.

NJ Colonial9/19/2016 5:26:34 PM

Herve, please stay the course, GW Nation needs you!

The Dude9/19/2016 5:32:32 PM

Dootie, Thomas, agreed.  Well said.

2cents9/19/2016 5:53:00 PM

Herve, I hope everything is ok in your bubble.  Sounds like you might be dealing with some personal stuff, and I'm sure I speak for many in hoping it works out. You also might just be sick of the BS surrounding GW basketball right now, in which case, that too will hopefully work out.  If running this board is a PITA, by all means, do what you have to do. But, I read the site daily and truly appreciate what you made for us here, and am not sure what I would do without it!

Long Suffering Fan9/19/2016 5:55:44 PM

I hear where you are coming from Herve and the sniping and some of the juvenile stuff is unfortunate and hopefully can be tweaked    But in times like this, this board has never been more valuable and in many cases never been better     Just imagine if we had no venting outlet  Further we are the voice of the fan base and although I wish some would give it a rest, I think we are heard more frequently than you woul think    In many ways, the division  into pro and anti Lonergan camps as well as our various views on whether or not lines were crossed is fascinating  Long live This board

Buffman9/19/2016 5:55:50 PM

ditto to that

Bigfan9/19/2016 5:57:09 PM

Thank you, Thomas.

And thank you so much, Herve.

Despite the devolution and new posters,Herve should know this outlet provides a lot of enjoyment and entertainment to people, and usually,a great escape from the world around us.

Alumnus9/19/2016 6:04:29 PM

Tuna -- interesting choice of images.  I'm curious how Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris relate to this situation.

Tuna Can9/19/2016 6:15:15 PM

Alumnus, only the song. Click on the image and you will get the link (if I did it correctly) The album title  might apply as well, eh?!

BC9/19/2016 7:35:32 PM

Someone go down to the bottom and click on paypal and donate.  It only let do $20, so I clicked it 3 times.  If someone could figure out how to change the amount, let me know.

herve9/19/2016 7:45:59 PM

Don't donate. This ain't a pitty-party. Don't make this out to be more than it really is which is a niche message board. My life is grand. GW basketball ain't. My connection to all of this is very weak all things considered. My interest in the program should lend no weight to anyone's opinion and certainly has zero connection to the program.

BC9/19/2016 10:20:20 PM

I don't pity you Herve, I hate you.  I'm donating because I hate you and want you to hate me.

Angry George9/20/2016 7:31:56 AM

Who isn't a big fan of censorship?

Tuna Can9/20/2016 7:40:23 AM

As always, BC, well said. BTW, I see that your book, "Communicating with Referees" is in its sixth printing.

Alumnus9/20/2016 9:24:18 AM

Thanks, Tuna.  I'm very familiar with that song -- I've sung it in the last few years in honor of a couple of friends who died too young (although not nearly as young as Gram).  To use Gram's imagery, GW's program is certainly riding on the Grievous Angel right now.

  • Make an argument
  • Don't call someone an evil pant-load
  • Don't threaten to sue someone for your free, voluntary participation on a semi-anonymous site
