As you can see, the Board is about a dozen or so people. Same as always.

If you believe that the Lonergan is on the hot seat stuff this summer suddenly brought 20 new poster names who all just vanished once it ended, never to be seen before or after, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.

We all know who was behind the names.  Same person as always.  Makes me feel a little "Blue" in my seats.

Yawn.

what is there to talk about? Lonergan is gone, Nero is fine. The heinous liars were proven wrong.  How many times can you regurgitate talk about GW predicted to be 7th, Tyler will be all conference.

Fan10/12/2016 6:18:39 PM

one heinous liar, using 20 new names to try to show widespread support and a lying campaign

for clarity sake for this board, important to realize imo

Not sure it's that cut-and-dried. I remain deeply ambivalent and somewhat disturbed about ML's departure.

But great dialogue here, Poster and Fan. Right.

The same posts about GW's finishing spot in the A-10 and whether or not our best player is going to be all conference that we've been reading for ten days, vs. the same posts about Lonergan, Nero, and who is who that we've been reading for five months.

I'll take the former.

Very good point, Mentzinger.

that's because you don't know the truth Metzinger. Some people like keeping their head in the sand, that way they don't have to deal with reality.

Long Suffering Fan10/13/2016 7:40:45 AM

The reality is we won 75 games over the past 3 seasons including an NCAA at large bid, an NIT tournament win and victories over some major ranked programs, and we are now starting the season with a 31 year old rookie head coach and no recruits locked up for next season.  That is the reality and I think we are all aware (and rightfully nervous) about it.   Makes no sense to spin and blame how we got there, but this is where we are right now.  Now lets move on.

I would just add that we will not get any recruits until there is a permanent head coach. No one will commit under current circumstances.

Bo Knows10/13/2016 9:21:09 AM

Exactly 2twotoed. I have made that point several times here. Unfortunately BM is going to be mostly out of work here for the next 6 months unless somehow we name a permanent coach beforehand. Complete waste of time to even look at the recruiting sites except to see what the competition is up to. Even if by some chance a player is listed with GW, it will all change if there is a coaching change at end of the year.

In all likelihood this is going to be a year like none other at GW. And if there is a big coaching change at the end, it is possible that aside from any normal transfers and the loss of TC, we could have 3 immediate impact transfers out - Sina, Steeves (not certain but I believe he could again transfer) and Watanabe. Yes, you are probably saying how did I get to Yuta. Well there is the possibility he could have enough credits to graduate next summer and invoke the graduate transfer rule. If these players have good years, they will likely be pressed to leave (yes, tampering does occur) unless it looks like we will be a contender in 2017-18.

So ironically depending on what happens, the impacts on this season may not be as great as what happens next. That may end up being Mojo's best argument (he can keep Sina, Steeves and Yuta in the fold and perhaps others) if he can show enough progress this season to warrant consideration.

If the next coaching move is not a home run we are in for a couple of lean recruiting years. Hope the interim can get the job done or a pretty creative hire is made.

The Dude10/13/2016 1:23:07 PM

2013 2014 and 2015 were very lean recruiting years.

As ML was set to Coach the team this year, he had basically just Yuta from those Freshmen classes of any impact.

A reminder that lean Freshmen recruiting classes can happen anytime. ML had 3 straight years like that, even as the program was ascending.

The Dude10/13/2016 1:39:42 PM

I'm not as hung up on lean freshman classes as some. If a coach can bring in quality transfers, be it JUCO or D1. If the School is not careful we will be in bad shape.
