He's off to Point Loma Nazarene from Idaho. Best of luck to him.

I hope he is learning something.

I live (literally) at the entrance to PLNU on top of Point Loma.  Beautiful campus overlooking the Pacific with a nice rubberized running track, gem of a baseball park,  and pretty good kids.  Men's basketball is mediocre, women's is better and their coach lives a couple of doors down from me, (Bill Westphal of that family). Quite a step down for Skylar, but academics are decent.  Very Christian school, is Skylar inclined that way?

KDB,

Excellent location! As long as you're not working north of La Jolla or east of SDSU it's a tolerable commute, and PL is an underrated gem of a neighborhood for anyone who's not from the area, beacuse it's so tucked away.

As for Skyler, maybe he was looking to go to a nationally ranked surfing college: http://www.surfermag.com/features/top-10-surf-colleges/

Its great the guy is traveling. But, I question if it is for hoops. His family seems more savvy than that. well, good luck ot them/

Location definitely seems nice. I guess he realized Division 1 hoops wasn't going to work out. If I remember correctly he was on scholarship at Idaho, which means he probably expected to get more playing time than he did here as a walk-on. According to Verbal Commits, he was kicked off of the team and I'm guessing he didn't get along with the coaches there. This article is from back in February:

How many people have been to Idaho?

One of the places I've never been (or had much interest in going).

Just doesn't seem like the place I'd wanna be.

Now college near the beach?  I'm very interested :)

As you all know, I've been a fan of Skyler so I called some of my basketball contacts in New York and San Francisco.   This is what I found out and I trust the sourcs.  Skyler graduated this year (in 3 years - Dean's LIst) with 2 years eligibility remaining.  MLNLAW, I guess he didn't like it either.  Fall of last season he had what appeared to be a nagging groin injury and on going health issues.  Mid-season the coach found out he was planning to transfer after graduation and dismissed him.  Within a week of leaving the team, he was admitted to the hospital for a staph infection in the hip and groin which turned into sepsis.  From what I heard, he almost died and ligit might not have played again.  Even ill, he had a number of offers including USF and Seattle U.  He's still recovering and couldn't join a program until fall.  He's transferring to Point Loma to get his masters without sitting out, opportunity to fully recuperate and 2 years left to play.  Frankly, I wish the kid all the luck in the world and hope he makes a full comeback.  He's a great get for Point Loma and I plan to watch his career, D2 or not.  It's a very savvy move.
