Off to LaSalle this weekend. Syracuse transfer BJ Johnson appears to be tearing things up, Jordan Price is back and very good of course too.
Thoughts? Predictions? Intel on LaSalle this year?

Cheesesteaks are better near the St Joe's campus than they are by LaSalle. But I hope the result is not, otherwise LSF will be happy because he can get an "early bird" discount booking his room in Vegas to see GW play in that Vegas 16 (or 8) tournament...
sgw1/13/2017 7:31:16 PM
La Salle was a very bad team last year, what's driving the sudden turnaround?
gw has a chance1/13/2017 7:37:28 PM
if MoJo doesn't fall asleep on the bench mid-game

@SGW: An influx of transfers mostly
la salle1/13/2017 8:56:06 PM
La Salle is 9-5... hopefully GW doesn't get blown out by 30 again
sgw1/14/2017 12:52:36 AM
0509, it does appear to be the case.
Giannini's program had been in some steep decline in recent years after that great run in the 2013 Tourney, this year comes as quite a surprise, to me at least
bobo1/14/2017 11:38:32 AM
LaSalle is a TERRRIBLE defensive team this year: ranked #240 in defensive efficiency. Teams shoot well against them, they don't create TOs and they've given up 90+ points multiple times. GW sucks defensively as well, mostly for the same reasons as LaSalle. So there should be a lot of scoring in this game at a high percentage.
But LaSalle is good offensively. Transfers, transfers, transfers. PF BJ Johnson is having a great year after coming from SU and joins fellow transfers PG Pokkie Powell from Memhis and big man Demetrius Henry from S Carolina. Add previous transfers Cleon Robers and Jordan Price.
As ussual with the good doctors teams at LAS, they'll be jacking up 3s all day. GW will need to close out on them better and apply more ball presure than they've done in the past. GW is bigger than LaSalle and should dominate on the boards. Move the ball, look for 3s on offense and run an efficient offense and GW has a chance.

LU 95 GW 77. TC and Yuta with 20 each.
mentzinger1/14/2017 11:56:55 AM
Oh and BTW I hate LaSalle for being perennially one of the worst teams in the A-10 yet owns a Sweet 16 appearance this decade
prediction1/14/2017 1:45:31 PM
75-68 Lasalle, but GW has a decent chance
the dude1/14/2017 3:13:27 PM
La Salle NCAA tourney wins in 2013: 3.
GW NCAA Tourney wins 1995-present. 1.

There must be some more uplifting stats somewhere. How about flu deaths?
bo knows1/14/2017 3:46:45 PM
Flu deaths are down ziik much like our prospects for this season are going to be if we can't get a win on Sunday. Therefore, I have GW with a W in a squeaker. We are due to play better.
the dude1/14/2017 3:49:14 PM
Global flu deaths 95-present 13,000,000
Known flu deaths at GW 95-present: 0.
ziik1/14/2017 3:55:12 PM
Bo, if GW won when we needed a win, we would not be complaining. But, I have not seen LaSalle yet this season, so, I have no idea...
Dude, is that figure humans, or birds and swine? It seems enormous for the modern era. But, it almost got me a couple of years ago, so I am aware that it is going to keep coming after us, much like the man eating bacterium.
the dude1/14/2017 5:14:20 PM
Ziik; About 500,000 a year globally (high end estimate) x 23 years.
I was just guessing initially but it turns out to be about right.
ziik1/14/2017 6:09:32 PM
Thanks, Dude, I was being a bit snide, but thanks. It put me in the hospital once, which was a real surprise.
My guess, most smart GW grads know the way it ravaged the world just after the first world war. It really is a tough bug. Purportedly, we are working on a universal flu vaccine. It won't be too soon.
long suffering fan1/14/2017 7:07:59 PM
At my age, GWAA, it makes no sense to book anything too far in advance. The schnide continues vs. Lasalle, as I have officially declared us to be in free fall. Lasalle 91 GW 67, afterwhich someone says something they should not have regarding the manner in which they are being used and is suspended for one game.
dc native1/14/2017 8:17:50 PM
How about this stat.
La Salle = 1
Everyone else in A10 combined = 0
gw691/14/2017 8:58:24 PM
Tom Gola from the championship LaSalle team also took my
Philly Warriors to the NBA title.
the dude1/14/2017 8:59:13 PM
Back to back NCAA title games if memory serves. Tom Gola driven, one of the all time greats.
Then the last 20+ years happened in which they've made one NCAA tourney, and yet still won 3x as many NCAA tourney games in that span as we have.
gw691/14/2017 9:03:18 PM
Dude -We are channeling each other!!Tom Gola back to back.

Haha we sure did Doc! that was pretty wild.

LAST TIME GW NIT CHAMPIONS? 2016
LAST TIME LASALLE NIT CHAMPIONS? 1952.

Last year Philadelpia was the nation's capital: 1800
Last day Washington was the nation's capital: Today
the dude1/14/2017 10:48:58 PM
That was a Gola led NIT title too! That dude won an NCAA title, NIT title, and NBA title. One of two to do that.
Can anyone name the other player to do so??
bo knows1/15/2017 1:51:45 PM
Arnie Ferrin - University of Utah and Minneapolis Lakers.
