Score 63-44, 21st 20+ win season (20-8).   Tied for 1st place.   They have played great defense recently.

Congratulations to the women on a magnificent 7-0 run to end the season and land atop the conference!  Now rest up and keep up your amazing work.  We are so proud of you, and just love to watch you play!  What a great group you are!

What a great night with the GW Women winning to become A10 Conference co-champions. The other co-champion will be Dayton, which needed OT to beat St. Louis. Both GW and Dayton will earn first round byes in the A10 Tournament and St. Louis has fallen to fourth place.

Then Duke goes down hard at the buzzer to Cuse. That's going to be a long trip home to Durham. And then the dogs across Rock Creek choked to Depaul at the phone booth and lost a buzzer beater. A lot of disgruntled fans are calling for JTIII to resign since he's making $3 million a year, the team is now 14-14, will miss the NIT two years in a row, and just lost to the Big East cellar dwellers.

Correction: The dogs fouled with less than a second on the clock and sent Billy Garrett Jr. to the line to sink two FTs for the win. Ouch.

any chance the women could get an large bid? or do they need to win the A10 tourney to dance?

minsk2/22/2017 10:33:44 PM

Current bracketology pegs the women as a 10 seed playing Tennessee in College Park. Dayton is in as an 11.

dcabloob2/22/2017 10:59:06 PM

George Washington will have a #2 seed in the Atlantic 10 women's basketball tournament and meet #10 George Mason or #7 Duquesne on Friday of next week, 4:30 pm in Richmond, VA.

Thanks Minsk, that's good to hear, pleasantly surprised actually.

Women still have some work to do, but have clawed their way back in to NCAA bid contention. It would help if either AU or (throwing up in my mouth) That School Down the Street would win their conference's tournament,  but a couple of wins in Richmond should do the trick.

GW seems to have the easier path to the Championship game. If GW takes care of business on its side of the bracket, Dayton and St. Louis will have to battle each other again to see who gets to play GW for the automatic bid: LINK Hopefully Jennifer Rizzotti's dream of leading GW to the NCAA tournament will soon come true.

For a walk down memory lane, here's a video recap of GW's road to last year's A10 Tournament Championship: LINK It's hard to believe that after losing their coach as well as Lauren Chase and J.J., this year's team is arguably better. In their seven-game winning streak to conclude the season, GW's defense has been extraordinarily stingy giving up: 46; 65; 44; 39; 57; 49; and 44 points. Last year down the same stretch, the team lost three games and gave up: 76; 47; 62; 69; 79; 53; and 66 points.

Rizzotti was a great hire, Go GW!

gdubber2/23/2017 2:33:06 PM

How's Tsipis doing? 8-20 Overall and (3-12) in Conference play.

gw alum abroad2/23/2017 2:38:27 PM

Tsipis probable has an extra zero at the end of his paycheck this year. Coach Rizz is a good hire, but (much as MoJo gets blamed for VCU) I place the AU loss on her shoulders, and that loss is what makes the difference between "lock" and "bubble" this time of season.

Another reminder to us that Nero hires across the board have been a huge success.
