There is a lot of complaining on the board that GW should have turned down CBI. And agree that Toledo game was lackluster. And agree most CBI tourney teams have pathetic records and losing a game in this tournament wouldn't be good.  But if you live in the Chicago area it is a chance to see Tyler in person one more time (and maybe the team can make up make up for the embarrassing loss to DePaul in Chicago last season. BTW-- UIC beat DePaul this season). Tyler is one of the greatest players and team leaders in our school's history (at least since I became addicted in 1969). Floor seats for only $20 are available and other lower level seats are open seating for $15. My guess is that the players are glad to still be playing. So wouldn't it be nice to get some fan support in Chicago and make this tournament a Tyler victory tour. He deserves it. He hung there this season and didn't leave. And on top of being an outstanding athlete, it is my understanding he is an excellent student. We should be proud he represents GW. We  are sure going to miss him next season. So how about we stop all the bickering about what a weak tournament the CBI is. As I said, I agree it is hard to disagree with, but the team is still playing. So let's have some fun and support them. Hope they have some fun playing. Go G-dub.

I know the level of play is bad but every game our new head coach gets as experience is beneficial for next year.  Plus  if the team enjoys playing together that is on a plus for the young men

I have booked a sleeping berth on Amtrak's Cardinal bound for Chicago  It will arrive at noonish on Monday, and I have arranged lodging at the Chicago Athletic Association on Michigan Avenue.  I am going to attend the GW vs. UIlChicago game at the CBI.  Earlier today I spoke with Chris Monroe at the GW - Monmouth baseball game (a 12 - 0 blowout of the Hawks).  Chris told me it is likely that GW will sponsor the semi-final game if we win in Chicago.

Wow, impressive. I like CJS' posts, particularly the archaic vernacular.

great to hear CJS. Looking forward to another game.

An overnight train to Chicago  for a CBI game?

Now, that's a real fan.

CJS is GW all the way

I'm happy with the CBI, we can win it, it gives us more of a good team. A team that should be the NIT, and probably would've repeated.

I will say the CBI is weaker than most years.

Here are some of the CBI participants of past years:

Fresno State

Illinois State

Old Dominion

Oregon State

Penn State

Texas A&M

Santa Clara

Oregon State

Penn State

Washington State

Boise State

San Jose State

CAVANAUGH APPROACHING TOP 25: Despite playing just two seasons for GW, Cavanaugh is on the verge of cracking the top 25 on the school's all-time scoring list. Cavanaugh has 1,254 points which ranks 27th. Just ahead of him on the list are Carl Elliott (1,256) and SirValiant Brown (1,274).

Let's hope Tyler has the whole tournament to crack the top 25.

Was wondering why the CBI is so down this year?

Clearly , it was a decent tournament in years past.

Also wonder if we knew how lackluster the field is before signing on--or is it one of those things that you don't know in advance?
